This fireplace project was done with Laguna Blanca porcelain slabs from Emil Ceramica.
Porcelain slabs are a beautiful alternative to traditional stone slabs such as granite or quartz. They can be cut to fit any surface including floors, walls, countertops and even fireplace surrounds and hearths.
Unlike traditional stone slabs, porcelain slabs are much thinner. Granite and quartz slabs are usually 2 or 3 CM thick, which is approximately 3/4″ to a little more than 1″ thick. The porcelain slabs used in this project are 12 mm, or a little less than 1/2″ thick. In addition, porcelain is durable and stands up to heat very well.
